Space Oddity, Then and Now and Then

The original Space Oddity came out in 1969, long before I'd ever heard of David Bowie:

Here's Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield doing Bowie's iconic song justice:

Couldn't help but notice how the early Bowie was so influenced by John Lennon. Not a bad role model. Bowie took that early influence and sent it soaring to beautiful heights. In fact, he redid it in 1973 and made it more his own:
